Development of ideas + Survey

As my idea of the video is my university life, my main purpose is wanted to alert everyone that "are you enjoying your university life now?"... "Appreciate the time you have now and have fun before you start working."

So i went for consultation and mr. bad suggested me that do the survey from the people who already start working. [Target audience- internship students and working people.] Asking for what's their view etc.. then add in to the video. Before this i have no idea what we need to do for the survey. But now i am very sure. So i have asked some questions from my friends who are having internship and some are working/ graduated now. I did the survey from fb messaging because i wanted to know the answer is belongs to whom as it has some connection with my idea for my video. The survey questions included their age, status (internship/ graduated/ working). Asking them about what's their feeling after went for internship for a semester (for those who are interning) yet for those who already graduated/ working, i asked them what's their feeling towards university life after graduated. And another question is "Is there any message you would like to tell the others who are still studying now?" which everyone need to answer it. :)

Because of the privacy, i have erased their name on the survey. And i do not need to use their name in my video also. From this survey, i will just select some of the sentences of them and maybe some people's answer i will not use it. Cause it will be very long if i use all.. =D

Mind map

As my title for the final project is University Life, so i have done the mind map what basically university life has. About the clubs and society actually is based on myself which i just joined dj club. I'm sure that everyone of you sure has joined other clubs and society or maybe some of you didn't join any! =P

So from this mind map, then i start to think about progress of my video clip..

Media Art project 01 

Students are required:

- to produce a non interactive media art project to enhance / express words and meaning

- to apply the understanding of visual hierarchy, image / typography manipulations (emotionally and personality)

- to use and apply the advantages of digital media by using motion, transition and rhythm.

-Your FINAL Application should be place outside from these folders + Blog url

In media art project 01 section: 

Your A4Sketch should contain:

- Project brief (Name, id, artwork title, artist statement, artwork treatment)

- Mind map

- Any samples and reading materials related to your topic (research)

- Target Audience information + persona

- Idea development (thumbnails & sketches) including sketch for all two concept boards.

- Printouts of your 2 final concept boards.

+Any added segmentation is a bonus

This final project we don't have a specific title so it is up to us what topic we want to choose and create an video. For my idea now is do an video about university life, using many photos to create a video clip. :)

Title: The weather

Artist Statement: I use the title of Penang Laksa to do my survey. After that i use the results of the survey from question number 5 to number 8 to expand the ideas for the final artworks. So over all the artwork is no related to Penang Laksa yet it is about the weather. Penang Laksa just a title of the survey to help me get the survey from the other. Then from the answers, i do 2 personas which is something opposite. As we know that many years ago, Penang hasn't develop yet so there has a lot of mountains and trees. So the weather is sunny, windy and feel calm. When the weather is windy and calm, people feels happy. We can see that persona 1 is cool colour.

Artist Statement: I use the title of Penang Laksa to do my survey. After that i use the results of the survey from question number 9 to number 12 to expand the ideas for the final artworks. So over all the artwork is no related to Penang Laksa yet it is about the weather. Penang Laksa just a title of  the survey to help me get the survey from the other. Then from the answers, i do 2 personas which is something opposite. From the 2nd persona, it is something like very torture and make people sick which because of don't have trees that's why the weather is very hot now. Because now Malaysia starts to develop Penang and has cut off many trees and the mountains have became the buildings and house etc. We can see that persona 2 is warm colour.

Artwork treatment: I choose to do digital image as my final artwork and i used Adobe Illustrator for this assignment 3.

Sketches and references

After i done my development of ideas for both persona, i start to do my sketches.

Here goes to my sketches for my 1st persona which is more cheerful and happy as the feeling of persona 1 is happy + excited.

Here is the sketches for persona 2, when think of headache will think of the weather is very HOT. So i draw the sun just like an evil sun, very huge.

After done all the development of ideas and the sketches,

i got some pictures from google search as my references.

For example the happy sun, angry sun, tree and orange etc.

Although i use trace to do my artwork but i have changed the design of the pictures which i use for references.

online survey + development of ideas

Based on the online survey, i need to create 2 persona.
The 1st persona will be create from the question 5 to 8 and the 2nd persona will be create from the question 9 to 12.

Let's have a look on the result of the survey which i have print screened it.

So now, the particular words i will take to create the persona 1 are:
- vegetables
- Hot and spicy.
- happy + excited.
- sunny day.
From here, i will replace the vegetables to GREEN COLOUR. And this makes me have the idea of Go Green. When think of go green, my mind automatically think of TREES! Then, hot and spicy makes me think of sun. Happy + excited is the feeling for the persona 1 then sunny day is the weather. So this is roughly my ideas for the 1st persona.

The particular words for Persona 2 are:
- orange colour.
- sour
- Headache.
- Stall.
For orange colour, it makes me think of orange (the fruit of orange). Some more orange tasted sour. Then the feeling of this persona 2 is headache and stall represent the location. So my idea is make the orange as a character and it is headache because of the hot weather at the stall something like that.

I have created the questions of surveys based on this mind map.

My ideas of the final artworks are more abstract which not really seems like related to Penang Laksa. The title of Penang Laksa just for the survey. And i will take the answer of the survey to expand, to elaborate my ideas for the final artwork.

After presenting for assignment 2, we were briefed on what we should do for assignment 3. 
Here is the brief:

Assignment 03 Brief : Digital Arts

This is an individual project. Students are required to combine the use of
expressive visuals and creative typographic to create TWO artworks based on
selected topic. Both artworks should carry two different themes 
(treatment, “look and feel” and art concepts) but for the same target audience.

Please choose your potential target audience.

Submission Format: 
Two 10"x10" mounted on foamboard.
CDROM (all your digital working files, research/ findings and two finals artwork)
A4 sketch

Your A4Sketch should contain:
- Project brief (Name, id, artwork title, artist statement, artwork treatment (on both artworks)
- Survey results on your potential target audience
- Any samples and reading materials related to your topic.
- Idea development (thumbnails & sketches)

Our topic must be related to Penang. Actually i didn't join the trip to Penang few weeks ago. So after thinking so much on which topic i should choose, i chose "PENANG LAKSA" as my topic for assignment 3. As everyone knows that Penang has many delicious food and one of the famous food is laksa.
